God Eye Galatea- Costume construction

After two days I make another post.


This is a general guide on how I made Galatea.
I wanted to cosplay from claymore since high school. I first wanted to be kid Claire, then my favorite claymore who is Ophelia and I ended up being Galatea.

I was making this for IberanimeLX but I had lots of issues and just threw the project aside. Then CCF came and I mentalized myself to finish cosplays that were half way done. It was either Leah who needs some touches ups or Latea and I chose the later.

The reason why I ended up not making Ophelia is mainly because of the wig

I don't have lacefonts and she has a really sleek ponytail with a braid and so it would look baaaaaaad if I used one of my wigs. She is still my fav because I love craycray characters.

And so, because of the wig I made Galatea instead on her time skip version.

This is a manga only outfit when God-Eye Galatea becomes Sister Latea in Labona. There is no official colors and I always felt the coloured fanarts were a bit to dark for her nun habbit.

I made the dress with non stretch synthetic fabric which was very weird to iron because it felt I was ironing plastic and making really weird noises.

Sadly I don't have pictures of that step but I have plenty of others.

Ruffle Collar 

She has a ruffle collar on her neckline who was nightmarish because of the fabric, thank God for the professional iron on the atelier I study because without it I would be doomed. After ironing the ruffles into submission I found the middles and pined them and sewed everything together.

The white collar was just draped, added interfacing for stiffness and then zipper and lining. 

And then shoes:)

I bought them really cheap in a Chinese store. Se forem do Porto são os chineses que ficam na Trindade, são enormes e tem montes de coisas uteis e baratas para cosplay.

Shoes were beige but I had white spray paint and together with painters tape and a catalog of victorias secret I made them the color i wanted.

 in a twist a fate, painters tape wasn't enough to keep the white from the heels. I tried sanding them but it didn't work so I did again the same process this time for the heels only with bronze paint.

I cant seem to find the photos of the finished shoes:(.In the end they look exactly what I wanted. The paint does crack a bit after a while so Ill die them again if I ever need these shoes in the future which I probably will.

There was plans and materials to make Latea's claymore but I didn't finish on time.

And this is it. I need to be more careful when taking pictures because I want to start making tutorials and be more detailed in my costume construction. Next time I will be taking a finished Aurora to the medieval fair with a disney group and maybe before I'll cosplay a bit at Aniplay.

Central Comics fest

I just got home a while ago from Central Comics fest aka Summer Heat Fest because boy that was one hot day on a very hot placeX__X.

This convention is more comic related, it had a few western events occurring and Eurocosplay. To be honest all the activities went beside me because it was way to hot and I started to be a bit grumpy. Its amazing how the weather sometimes affects your mood OTL. I ended up on the backstage and dress rooms most of the time so no photos of the place or booths around the commercial area.

I did took plenty inside the cosplay room, Eurocosplay basically made this convention for me.

Private rooms always provide the best shenanigans and stories and its always the best way to know other people who also share the wish of representing the country. The mood this year was very laid back, everyone helping each other and having fun. Actually because one of the girls lost her stunts for the skit me and Cátia got pulled last minute to dance Michael Jackson in one of the skits. NO REGRETS!
There were also different faces from the ones who usually go to this eliminatory and the quality was greater than last year too!


In international events there's the need to pay more attention and be even more rigorous with our stuff and props and thank God EuroCos in Porto actually has prejudging. It always makes me roll eyes when intercomps where the costume is the highest point ranker for the cosplayers don't offer the opportunity to judges to take a closer look to cosplays and allow the cosplayer to talk about their body of work.
Anyway, here we have that privilege and together with the skits work I think this year the awards were very well deserved.

I also took a bunch of pictures outside but I'm not happy with them because of the costume. I really love Galatea but I feel i didnt really pull her off. I'll write next week about this cosplay and the things that leave me dissatisfied with it. See ya!

New costume: Jennifer Simpson

hello everyone!
I'm forcing myself to write this. I'm neglecting this blog so much lately and I have so many photos to post and things to write about!! Must not be lazy;_______;.

So I had a bit of time to make a new costume and my teacher gave me blue fabric so I though either Alessa or Jennifer.

In the end I decided for Jennifer because I already owned her wig and the rest of the materials for the costume so it would be easier to put together this one.

So lets talk a bit about how I got into this game.

I liked the the characters and mechanics, the whole game not so much but that's is for another post if I ever cosplay Alyssa from this installment. Basically the game was decent but it never made me want to explore much this franchise because of the faults it had. Fast forward a couple of years and me and my sister started to watch old horror movies and stumbled upon Dario Argento work. we liked the three movies we saw of his and two had Jennifer Connely starring in them, one as jennifer Corvino in "Penumbra". 

She actually became my ultimate girlcrush especially because I love bugs and insects and the pace of the movie. For instance, I never really though much of her in "Labyrinth" neither did I care much for that movie(sue me).

Upon research I learned that she was the main inspiration for the prime character of Clock Tower: The first fear, and I was curious about the game. By now I actually must have played it over ten times already. Its really simple point and clique, had never played it before but I enjoyed it still. if you are not a fan of videogames I urge you to at least read the manga, it doesn't take more than ten minutes and its in full colours and its sums up the main events and deaths of the game.

I only had to make her skirt and suspender, the shoes I had plus the chemise.

It was again a simple circle skirt. the fun part was to make the suspenders being invisible because I wanted them to be detachable and yet to become part of the skirt too.

I didnt take much photos of this part but here goes:

I feel so prettty in them.

Sadly my golden boby pins broke traveling so I didnt have them in my this tymeT^T which means I'll have to shoot this again. Also I dont know what happened but the zipper on my back was stuck so Ill have to replace it too but i'm to lazy to do it right now so I'll probably only do it when I use it again.

Anicomics 2014

Hello everyone:)

yesterday I had the opportunity to attend the last day of Anicomics. I always wanted to attend this event. I couldn't last year because of work but i had a few days off so i was very lucky they ended up matching Anicomics schedule. As usual I went with my friends Tânia, Silvério and Hélder from otakuPT.
ok this event is definitely different from the one i'm used to back in the North(not counting IA). Some things are better, others not so much. Im not a regular at this event so i'm not really sure how things usually go. I was advised that if i wanted to check the cosplay contests and the show I should show up really early so the whole day was almost passed sit in the auditorium. After the dubbers panel, who was really funny to attend there was the dance contest. It was a nice contest but the dances were too long for me and I lost interest pretty quickly. One thing I noticed was the advertising of Kpop but I think that what i heard was only Vocaloid and J-pop? I could be wrong though. After the dance contest They passed SNSD and BigBang so i was happy anyway:D.
After this the auditorium was so full we couldn't leave even if we wanted too. Luckily we found sit places near the stage and I wasn´t wearing my glasses so i could see pretty well:)

The cosplay contest was amazing, I was rotting for the kill la kill group. Their performance was neat!! And so was everybody else. I learned from a friend the skits were the winners from the contest the day before so she was watching everything for the second time againXD.
I was also very happy that the EC had so many contests when last year only three people applied and congratulations to dear Inês, her skit and costume were amazing! cant wait to see what she brings to the final <3! At this point I had been sitting for 5 hours watching all the performances and the cosplay show and my back and legs were killing me! It was almost seven I thing when it ended, there were a bit of delays in the schedule, my circle lenses and wig were killing me so I went outside and took of the costume. a few moments later the winners were announced and me and my friends went to eat at the chinese restaurant we always go and then three hour trip home.


I enjoyed the convention though I feel the activities are very much based around the auditorium, the AA and the kingpin table could be seen very quickly and besides the stage activities I dont think there was much else to do. I deeply regret arriving late that I could not go to the workshop I sign into:X I really wish I could learn a thing or to about props so I could improve in this area. I also sadly couldnt bring my camera so I have no photos at all of this event besides the selfies Tânia took and a small shooting I had that I hope can post here soon.

Anyway this is the costume I took:

Alright I just took this pictures and the costume is a bit wrinkly but you get the the idea. Sadly my Loki wouldn't make it so i solo the day.

Love Love Valentine's Weekend

Yesterday I went to a Valentine's party. It was once again at Aniplay store. They had contests, sorteios, tournaments and delicious food once again. It was a two day event but I only went saturday. I met with my dear Friend Tânia and we took a few pictures together.
I cosplayed Jill Valentine with her S.T.A.R.S. uniform. I was a bit bummed because I mixed the cargo pants I was supposed to take and instead of hers I brought Zidane's so they were supper short:X. You can totally see it in the pictures so I choose to only post the close ups online:( I will have to, another time, make another shooting this time with the full cosplay. Next time though i'll tight the shirt too because shes really lose around my belly and paint the gun because I really dislike orange points:(

The venue was so full! Its like more and more people are coming to this parties, I couldnt even take proper pictures to post here, I think there was over 300 people that or so I've read. Its does gets a bit in the way to check the stuff you want but it is good that the quantity of "otakus" is increasing thus making it a more profitable market and one that holds better.
